Disabled access dentistry

Searching for a friendly, family-orientated dental practice in the West Midlands with good access for the disabled? Look no further.

Adaptations to the North Street Dental and Implant Clinic building have made it possible for most wheelchair patients to get the dental health care they need all under one roof.

We are privileged to be able to offer general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry and dental implant therapy alongside cutting-edge denture provision that’s headed up by practice principal Steven Burchell DipCDT RCS(Eng).

Disabled access dentistry

Step-free level access to our clinic

We are aware that those who have very limited mobility struggle to get the dental attention they deserve.

In designing the practice we polled our patients on what they would ideally require when going to the dentist.

They asked for ground-level surgeries, an access without steps, a dedicated disabled person’s drop-off point, ground-level suitable toilets and a dentist’s chair that could make for easy transfers from a wheelchair.

With years of planning and lengthy discussions with the local authority here in Dudley, we have managed to achieve all of those things.

There is a private car park at the rear of our building, a block paved area next to the disabled parking bays to help with those with manual chairs and the ground-level surgeries are airy and air conditioned.

In one of those surgeries there is a break-knee dentist’s chair, so there is no lifting of legs required to get patients into a standard dental chair.

Once seated, the patient’s legs can gently be raised as the chair unfolds and is tilted backwards to suit the dental procedures in hand.

We find it particularly useful for some of those senior patients with appointments at the Denture Clinic.

In our own research we discovered just how frustrating it is to find a practice that can easily accommodate those with mobility needs. Sadly, after disappointing results many people just give up looking and abandon their oral health.

If you wish to check us out to ensure we are suitable for your specific needs, that’s fine. Just call us and we’ll arrange for you to see the surgeries we use. Our dental clinic is in North Street, Dudley in the West Midlands, a map and directions can be found on our contact page.
